Smythson of Bond Street

I recently became the owner of my very first Smythson leather diary and could help but share!

Smythson has been creating beautiful stationary and leather goods since the 1800's and continues to be a staple for those who want well-crafted leather diaries and travel products. The very first Smythson store was opened in 1887 on Bond Street directly across from the current storefront and the first diary, The Royal Court Diary, was printed in 1895. The heritage of Smythson is most impressive and even includes all four Royal Warrants! I am very excited to own a a piece of such an amazing company!

"Smythson was granted a Royal Warrant to Her Majesty the Queen in 1964. Other warrants followed: HRH The Prince of Wales in 1980, HM The Queen Mother in 1987, and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 2002. Whilst holding the Queen Mother’s Warrant, Smythson was one of only eight companies in the world to hold all four Royal Warrants at the same time.

To qualify for a Royal Warrant, tradesmen must supply the member of the Royal Family concerned, or their Household, with products or services in significant quantity over a period of at least five years. The Royal Warrant of Appointment has always been a symbol of excellence and quality - much treasured by those to whom it is granted."
